About Me.

As a proud alumna of our beloved Hampton University, my service has always been rooted in stewardship, storytelling, and a deep commitment to preserving and elevating the Hampton Experience.

Having served at the chapter, regional, and national levels, I understand both the heart and the structure of our association. My work has strengthened governance and operations while building meaningful engagement across generations. As First Vice President, I partnered with Reunion Class Leaders to restructure our approach—raising a record-breaking $6.5 million in class gifts and reinforcing the power of unity, purpose, and pride.

I’ve worked to connect alumni at every stage—from our newest graduates to our esteemed Emeritus Class—while strengthening collaboration with university leadership to better align our collective impact.

I am honored to have served alongside four Past National Presidents and to have the support of our living former leaders. Their wisdom continues to guide us forward.

Because legacy should never sit on a shelf. It should sit at the table.

My vision is grounded in the Three C’s:

April M Broadway

National Hampton Alumni Association, Inc. (2022 – 2026)

I proudly and wholeheartedly endorse April Broadway for President of the National Hampton Alumni Association, Inc.

April was instrumental in my matriculation at Hampton University. Before I ever stepped foot on campus, she was already embodying the Hampton spirit — ensuring that students like me were not only admitted, but supported, seen, and shepherded into the next chapter of our lives.

Our Alma Mater declares: “Thy foundation firm and thy roof tree outspread.” April is the living expression of those words. Her foundation is firm — rooted in integrity, consistency, and a deep love for Hampton. And her roof tree is outspread — covering generations of Pirates through decades of faithful service to NHAA, Inc., service I have personally benefited from both during my matriculation and long after graduation.

For April, NHAA, Inc. is not a club. It is not a title. It is not résumé filler. It is her life’s work. It is stewardship. It is legacy. It is responsibility.

She does not seek the position — she has already been doing the work.

Broadway is her name. And she believes in letting her “life do the singing.”

Let’s run it up and put the right Black woman in the job.

I stand with April Broadway!
